The status bar at the top left of the screen will update as the permit and job progress, indicating what is happening.
Once your permit is approved, the status will change from "Request Made" to "Approved" as below:
You will then need to update the council on the progress of the works as you proceed.
Note: The status may change to "Service Authority Acceptance" instead of "Approved" - this is used by councils who want to be notified of your work but who do not require you to have a permit for this particular job. You can treat this status the same as approval, and proceed with filling in your Works Start and Completion dates.
If the council reject the permit request, it will say "Rejected":

They may also grant provisional approval, pending a distant start date or further permissions:

Or they may deem that for your work a permit is not required:

My permit is only provisionally approved, but I need to begin work
When provisionally approved, a notification will appear at the top of the Details screen providing the council's remarks:
When you require their final approval, you can click the Request Approval button below the status bar:
This will send a request for the council, who can then grant full approval. The status will automatically update once the council have approved the permit.
