What do I need to do after my job is complete? (Inspection, Warranty, Closure)

After you have completed the works, update the status in PermitMonitor to "Works Completed".

The road authority will typically carry out site inspections after the work is finished, to ensure the site has been left in an acceptable state and the work was completed correctly.

If the inspection passes, the permit will pass into a warranty (or guarantee) period. This is normally 12 months, but could be shorter or longer depending on the road authority.

If the inspection fails, remedial work will normally need to take place to fix the site. You will be notified by email and in PermitMonitor with a status of "Remedial Action Needed" clearly stating that action is required if an inspection fails. Depending on the situation, councils may require that you undertake the work, or they may hire someone else to (which could incur a fee). Inspections can be carried out as many times as needed until the site is passed.

When the warranty period is about to expire, the road authority will sometimes conduct a final inspection to ensure the work has held up over time. If the site has deteriorated, you may be liable for fixing it due to the warranty.

If the site is intact at the end of warranty, the permit will be closed by the road authority. Closed permits will still be shown on your PermitMonitor dashboard.
